WSL2: Newcastle United Seek to Extend Perfect Start Against Durham

Newcastle United will look to maintain their flawless record in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (WSL2) when they face Durham on Sunday.

The Toon Army have been impressive so far, winning all four of their opening games and scoring 11 goals while conceding just once. They sit atop the table as the only team with a perfect record in WSL2.

Durham, on the other hand, have struggled to find their footing, losing all four of their opening games and sitting at the bottom of the table.

Despite their poor start, Durham will take confidence from their previous encounters with Newcastle. They have never lost to the Toon Army, having earned a double over them in the 2024/25 season and four points off their rivals last season.

Newcastle’s experienced striker Martha Thomas has been in fine form, scoring four goals in her last two games and leading the league as top scorer.

The North East Derby is expected to be an intense and physical clash, with a large crowd likely to turn out to support Durham at Maiden Castle Sports Park.
