Swiss coach Fabio Celestini has been appointed as the new head coach of English Championship side Burnley, replacing Nicky Hayen who was recently dismissed. The 50-year-old Swiss coach takes charge of the team for the first time on Saturday, October 31, when they host Portsmouth at Turf Moor.

Celestini brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously managed CSKA Moscow and guided them to the Russian Super Cup win before leaving in May 2026. He also enjoyed a successful spell at Swiss club Basel, leading them to a domestic double within 18 months, winning both the Swiss Super League and Swiss Cup.

During his playing career, Celestini earned 35 caps for Switzerland, including appearances at UEFA Euro 2004. He also spent a decade playing in France and Spain, representing clubs such as Olympique de Marseille, Levante, and Getafe.
