Dundalk claimed a 2-1 win over Bohemians to solidify their place in third on their impressive return to the Premier Division.

Ciaran Kilduff’s men came into the game knowing Bohs were the only side they had failed to beat Bohs on their return to the top-flight. And they made amends for that on Friday night at Dalymount Park.

Cian Byrne gave Bohs an early lead but Dundalk fought back to win with goals from Danny Mullen and Eoin Kenny.

Dundalk sit in third a point ahead of Bohs, knowing they have played a game more than their rivals. The result was a damaging defeat for Derry City who lost 2-1 to Galway United.

Eoin Kenny of Dundalk FC celebrates after the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division match between Bohemian Football Club and Dundalk FC at Dalymount Park.
