Eintracht Frankfurt Sign Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge
Eintracht Frankfurt have made a significant signing ahead of the new season by bringing in Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian side Club Brugge. The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Commerzbank-Arena until June 2031.
Onyedika’s impressive CV boasts two league titles, the Belgian Cup, and the Belgian Supercup during his time with Brugge. He also lifted the Danish Cup with FC Midtjylland in a previous stint outside Belgium. The 1.84m midfielder has made 268 senior club appearances across all competitions, including 24 UEFA Champions League outings over the past three campaigns.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche praised Onyedika’s consistency and physicality, stating that he is an important building block in terms of the structure of the squad. “Raphael Onyedika has not only impressed us with his physicality and strategic understanding of the game, but above all with his extraordinary consistency,” said Krösche.
Onyedika was a regular starter for Brugge over the past four seasons, making 40, 49, 52, and 42 appearances respectively in all competitions. He also boasts valuable international experience, having won 26 senior caps for Nigeria and being part of the Super Eagles squad at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
