Pyramids and Zamalek have made a strong statement in the CAF Champions League, securing away qualifying wins that all but seal their spots in the group phase.

Mahmoud Saber’s goal after 32 minutes gave Pyramids a 1-0 victory over El Merriekh Bentiu in Juba, South Sudan. Zamalek also won 1-0, with Nasser Mansy scoring the lone goal in the final minute of regular time against APR in Kigali.

Egyptian clubs have dominated the CAF Champions League, winning a record 19 titles, led by Al Ahly’s 12 championships. However, Ahly will not be competing this season after finishing third in the Egyptian Premier League behind Zamalek and Pyramids.
