The Golden Square CFA is set to receive a significant boost in funding as part of the state’s Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP). The brigade will be allocated $76,400 for the purchase of a new field command vehicle.

This allocation is part of a larger round of funding that has seen other major beneficiaries include the Longwood and Echuca CFAs, which will each receive $543,000 for new medium tankers. CFA chief officer Garry Cook hailed the news as a significant boost for volunteers and brigades across the state.

“VESEP continues to play a critical role in helping our brigades access the equipment, vehicles and facility improvements they need to support their communities,” he said. “Our volunteers dedicate countless hours to training, community education and emergency response, and this funding helps ensure they have the resources required to carry out that work safely and effectively.”

The news was announced in parallel with Victoria’s auditor-general Andrew Greaves releasing his report on the state of emergency services equipment across the state.
