Boca Secures Quarterfinal Spot in Copa Argentina

Boca Juniors eliminated Vélez Sarsfield 4-3 on penalties to advance to the quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina 2026. The match was played at the Mario Kempes Stadium in Córdoba, with Boca dominating the game but struggling to find the back of the net.

The Xeneize had several scoring opportunities throughout the game, but it wasn’t until the penalty shootout that they managed to secure their spot in the next round. Vélez Sarsfield’s Godoy had a chance to put his team ahead from the 12-yard mark, but his shot hit the right post and was saved by Boca’s goalkeeper Alvaro Montero.

Montero proved to be the hero of the game, making two crucial saves in the penalty shootout. His last save, which denied Godoy’s attempt, sealed the deal for Boca and sent them through to the quarterfinals.

Boca will now face Racing in the quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina.
