N.L. Community Centre Named After NHL Star Danny Cleary Faces Uncertain Future

Danny Cleary, a Stanley Cup winner and former NHL player from Newfoundland, is disappointed to see the Town of Harbour Grace seeking bids for the naming rights to its community centre. The current agreement, which has been in place for 10 years, is set to expire.

Cleary had paid for his name to be on the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre, and he hopes that it can stay in some form. However, Mayor Terry Barnes says that the town legally has to go through a bidding process to determine the new name of the centre.

The town released a request for proposals last week, and the bidding process is now underway. It remains to be seen whether the centre will retain its current name or adopt a new one.
