The latest edition of the Copa Centroamericana has come to a close for Honduras’ Liga Nacional teams, with Motagua and Olimpia both eliminated from contention.

Motagua was unable to overcome Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, drawing at home before falling in Costa Rica. Meanwhile, Olimpica was defeated by Club Sport Cartaginés in a closely contested match.

With these results, Honduras’ football teams have been eliminated from the regional competition for another year. Since the current format of the tournament began in 2023, no Liga Nacional team has made it past the semifinals.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for Honduran football fans. In 2022, Olimpica won the Copa Centroamericana title by defeating Liga Deportiva Alajuelense with a score of 5-4.

The Copa Centroamericana may be over for this year, but Honduran football fans will be eagerly anticipating the next edition of the tournament.
