Rojo’s Future in Doubt as Estudiantes Eye Veteran Centre-Back

Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is reportedly considering an immediate departure from Racing Club following their disappointing Copa Argentina exit.

The 33-year-old centre-back has been a key player for the Avellaneda outfit, but his future at the club is now in doubt after they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Boca Juniors in the quarter-finals.

Estudiantes, Rojo’s boyhood club, have initiated preliminary discussions with the veteran defender in a bid to secure an experienced reinforcement ahead of their Copa Libertadores semi-final tie.

Rojo has been linked with several clubs in recent months, but it remains to be seen whether he will choose to leave Racing Club and join Estudiantes or explore other options.
