Olakigbe Shines in Austrian Bundesliga

Austrian Bundesliga side WSG Tirol has received a boost from loanee Michael Olakigbe, who has made a productive start to competitive action. The 22-year-old Brentford winger has scored once and registered three assists across his first three appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga side.

Olakigbe’s impressive form began in WSG’s convincing cup victory over SC Wieselburg on 24 July. He provided three assists, including one for Ademola Ola-Adebomi to open the scoring midway through the first half.

He then marked his Austrian Bundesliga debut with a goal as WSG drew 1-1 with Sturm Graz at Tivoli Stadion Tirol. Olakigbe levelled shortly before half-time, beating his opponent on the left before finding the bottom corner from a tight angle.

The Brentford winger also started WSG’s second league fixture, a 3-1 defeat at SCR Altach on Friday evening. Despite having his side’s best opportunity of the first half when he raced clear following an Altach corner, Olakigbe couldn’t quite bring the ball under control when through on goal.
