Cerro Porteño Targets First Signing for Second Semester
Cerro Porteño is reportedly on the verge of making its first signing for the second semester, as Argentine midfielder Agustín Ezequiel Almendra emerges as a top target. The 22-year-old was born in San Francisco Solano, Argentina on February 11, 2000.
The club’s ability to sign new players is currently hindered by a FIFA-imposed ban due to outstanding debts. Cerro Porteño must first settle its financial obligations, with the largest debt being the transfer of Matías Pérez to FC Orenburg in Russia, which amounts to approximately $1.5 million.
Once the club’s finances are in order, Almendra is expected to join the team, bringing much-needed experience and skill to Cerro Porteño’s squad. The Argentine midfielder has been impressing in his recent performances abroad.
