Real Madrid Looking to Seal Their Spot in the Champions League Semi-Finals

Published: 2022-04-12 By: The Guru

Chelsea will travel to Bernabeu to face Real Madrid with hopes of overturning a two-goal deficit following a 3-1 loss to the Los Blancos. Harvest’s goal restored some hope for the Blues, and they will be looking to defend their title on Tuesday night.

Ronaldo's successor, Karim Benzema, is currently at the heart of every Real Madrid fan. We lack the right words to describe his current form. Manchester United former defender Rio Ferdinand praised the skipper after bagging a hat-trick in Stamford Bridge Tuesday last week. Ferdinand went ahead to say UEFA should start engraving Benzema's name on the next Ballon d'Or dubbing him 'the best number 9 on the planet.'  He makes a valid point. Karim had previously single-handedly carried Real Madrid to the quarter-finals with a three-goal hauler against PSG in the second leg of the last 16. Two back-to-back hat tricks for the French man while holding this season's La Liga’s top scorer.

Ancelotti's lads have one foot in the Champions League semi-finals. A win or a draw will see them proceed. After Saturday’s La Liga win against Getafe, Real Madrid sits on top of the table, twelve points clear of Barcelona in second place. Real Madrid has lost one match in the last five league matches. After last season’s 2-point loss to Atletico Madrid, the Los Blancos are well on their way to winning the league title with seven games remaining this season.

Chelsea sits at position three in the English Premier League with 62 points; eleven points shy of Liverpool in second place with eight matches remaining this season. Chelsea's chances of winning the EPL title are slim as the fight seems to be between Manchester City and Liverpool. Following the loss in the first leg against Real Madrid, Tuchel's side seems ready for the reverse fixture after thrashing Southampton six goals to nil on Saturday last week.

Real Madrid will Play Chelsea without Eder Militao as the skipper is serving a suspension after accumulating yellow cards. Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic are out on injury and Vallejo on COVID-19. Ancelotti was wise to rest big names like Kroos and Modric in the league match against Getafe.

The situation is the same for Chelsea with Chillwel and Hudson Odoi out injured. Romelu Lukaku might also miss the trip to Bernabeu as he missed the weekend league match against Southampton with Achilles pain.

Chelsea will walk into the Bernabeu with an urge for goals and restored faith following the warm-up against Southampton. They know they can pierce Real's defense with Militao absent. However, Chelsea needs to watch out for K9 and Vinicius Jr, as the duo can easily add insult to injury. We anticipate a match full of action and goals on both sides.
